November, 2006, I started applying the treatment.

I have now been on the Calosol treatment for 5 months. When I first started with Calosol, I didn't have one hair on my head, but within the next 2 months, I started to notice that hair was growing on my arms, my legs and then what I would call "peach fuzz" on the side of my face.

By month 3, I started to notice that there were a few hairs coming through on my head and my head wasn't so shiny any more. When I touched my head, it seemed that I could feel little hairs coming through. Right now, the hairs are white with no pigmentation. There are still no hairs on my eyebrows, but initially I was applying too much solution to my eyebrows and the skin started to become irritated so I have had to lessen the amount I put on. As well, during the last 6 months, I have taken up meditation and trying to control my stress level. This too may be having an impact on my hair growing.

I tried Rogaine, iron supplements, Biotin, a homeopathic remedy for hair loss – in fact, anything that I thought would work. But all my hair kept doing was falling out. I even went back to having cortisone injections in my head, but that only worked while I continued with the injections. By February-March, 2006, my hair was all gone. As well, I lost all of the hair on my arms, legs, underarms, nose hair, eyebrows – everything.

I continued on the homeopathic treatment for 7-8 months before I realized that I had to change to a different treatment as this was not working In October, 2006, I started reading about Calosol

Alopecia first started on my scalp in a couple of round circles when I was 4 years old. No treatment was provided and within a couple of months, these few circles disappeared.

When I was 8-9 years old, the alopecia areata returned and this time my mother took me to a doctor as there were a lot more circles than two which had appeared when I was younger. The doctor prescribed a cortisone cream, but that didn't seem to have any effect. I was then sent to a dermatologist, who prescribed injecting cortisone right into my scalp. That was indeed painful, but after a few weeks, the hair started to slowly grow.

After about 4-5 months, the circles had all filled in. I can remember that at that time in my life I was involved in competitive gymnastics and the stress of the harsh gymnastic coaches and of competing for the province that I lived in may have contributed to my hair loss.

I had no further problems with alopecia until the year 2005. This was the year I put (unconsciously) every stressful situation into my life that I could think of. I was living in Los Angeles as a junior fashion designer, got into a personal relationship which required me to move to New York, tried to start my own fashion label in New York, was unhappy in my relationship and then finally decided to try and find work, but that took 6 months and no income was earned during that period. By this time, my hair was thinning drastically and by December, 2005, there were really large chunks of hair missing on my scalp.
